‘The Owl and Me’ makes top 10 at Pinewood.

Our animation The Owl and Me has been voted into 9th place at this month’s Pinewood Studios’ Lift-Off Sessions and although only the top five go on to the next stage, making the top 10 out of 100 short film entries is still a very satisfying result for us.

The animation started out as a song written by Les Veale for a friend going through a bad time, but soon began giving Les ideas for storyboarding as a short film. However, as the example above shows, Les’s creative talents do not stretch to drawing but fortunately, graphic artist Mary Porter was able to interpret a series of similar storyboard sketches to create some superb designs for the film, which were then brought to life by animator Stuart Maiden.

As soon as Covid restrictions are lifted, we hope to resume submitting our films including ‘The Owl and Me’ which will be chasing our other animation ‘I Just Wondered Why’ for best animation awards.
